Casino licenses determine whether your balance is protected if the casino goes bankrupt, how quickly disputes get resolved, and whether you have legal recourse. Here's what each license type means in practice.
Who has it: BetMGM Ontario
Ontario provincial regulator, launched April 2022. Strongest player protection with segregated funds, legal recourse, and mandatory self-exclusion. Ontario residents must use AGCO casinos by law.
Bottom line: If you're in Ontario, AGCO-licensed casinos are the only legal option and offer the strongest player protection in Canada.
Who has it: LeoVegas, DreamJackpot
European gold standard. Segregated accounts, quarterly audits, 7-30 days for resolution of disputes. Best option for play outside of Ontario.
Bottom line: MGA licensing offers the strongest protection outside Ontario. If you're in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, or Quebec, prioritize MGA-licensed casinos.
Who has it: Sports Interaction, JackpotCity
Canadian territory license since 1999. Canadian territory license issued since 1999. Canadian licensing body present for charge backs, but disputes can take up to 90 days. Appropriate for known brands.
Bottom line: Acceptable for long-standing brands like JackpotCity and Sports Interaction, but offers less protection than MGA/AGCO. Fine for casual play; higher stakes players should prefer MGA licensing.
Who has it: Rolletto
A Caribbean location with minimal regulations. No segregated funds, long disputes, increased risk. While suitable for established casinos such as Rolletto, we generally advise against new Curacao casinos.
Bottom line: Curacao licenses are lower-tier, but not automatically a red flag for established casinos. We only list Rolletto because it's been operating since the 2010s without major complaints. Avoid newly launched Curacao casinos with no track record.
Ontario players use AGCO only. Rest of Canada prioritize MGA, accept Kahnawake for established brands, avoid new Curacao casinos.
All casinos accept Interac e-Transfer. Withdrawal speeds vary by casino, ranging from 2 hours to 5 days. Here's what each casino supports.

| Rolletto | ✅ Instant / 3 days | ✅ Visa, MC | ✅ MuchBetter | ✅ BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT | $20 |
Bank-to-bank, instant deposit with a $0-$1.50 fee that works everywhere.
Instant deposit but some banks flag up gambling transactions to their customers and refuse to honor them. Withdrawing to card takes 3-7 days.
Faster payouts with additional 2-5% charge. Not very popular in Canada.
Full privacy, fast cashouts. You will need to set up a wallet. This payment method is only available at Rolletto.
All sites have a minimum deposit requirement and this is generally set at $10. However, some do offer a higher minimum deposit amount of $20, and you can find these at both the Rolletto casino site and the DreamJackpot casino.
Is BetMGM Ontario legal? Yes. With some proviso regarding different Canadian provinces, BetMGM Ontario is one of the AGCO licensed casinos where Ontario residents are welcome to bet. Residents of other Canadian provinces can also use those casinos which are licensed abroad by trustworthy gaming jurisdictions such as LeoVegas (MGA), Sports Interaction (Kahnawake) and many others. The Criminal Code does not criminalize the participation of players. It is the unlicensed operators who are the true target of the legislation.
But yes, every casino listed on this site accepts Interac e-Transfer for both instant deposits (usually free) and for withdrawls (timing varies from 2 hours to 5 days).
CRA classifies gambling winnings as windfall receipts and not income for tax purposes. Therefore, whether you win $100 or $100,000 at the casino, race track or on-line it is tax free. Note however that for professional gamblers who play on a full time basis, some of their winnings could be classified as business income.
The amount you must wager with your real money before you can actually withdraw any of your bonus money. For example, a $100 bonus with 35x wagering requirements means you'll have to spend $3,500 in total wagers before you can get to your real cash. That's hard to do with wagering requirements of 60x or higher, which is why we don't often highlight those. Of course, the lower the wagering requirements the better. Of the bonuses on this list, we think BetMGM Ontario is a highlight for their wagering requirements of 10x-15x. LeoVegas also has very fair wagering requirements of 25x, as well as online sportsbook Sports Interaction at 30x. If you're looking for the ultimate no deposit bonus with fair wagering requirements then Rolletto has them at 30x as well.
You can access all Ontario casinos in your browser on any device. LeoVegas and BetMGM Ontario are also available as native iOS and Android apps, which load faster and allow you to register/log in using biometric data on your phone.
Check the licensing and ownership. Be wary of "ghost" owners – look up who owns the company. Also check complaints about the casino. All reputable casinos list their licenses in the footer of their site (AGCO, MGA, Kahnawake, or Curacao). Publicly traded or established operators are generally a safer bet.
Most don't. LeoVegas, BetMGM Ontario, Sports Interaction, and Rolletto don't charge withdrawal fees for Interac e-Transfer. Your bank may charge a small Interac receiving fee ($1-$1.50), but the casino itself processes withdrawals for free.
DreamJackpot and JackpotCity charge processing fees on some withdrawals depending on the method and amount. Check their cashier before requesting a payout.
Hidden fee to watch for: Some casinos charge "inactivity fees" if you don't log in for 6-12 months. None of the casinos on this list charge inactivity fees, but always read the terms before depositing at any new casino.
$10-$20 at most casinos on this list. Here's the breakdown:
Important: The minimum deposit and the minimum deposit to claim a bonus are often different. You might be able to deposit $10, but the bonus might require a $20 or $30 deposit. Always check bonus terms before depositing if you're planning to claim a welcome offer.
Technically no – but enforcement is complicated. After April 2022, Ontario law states that only AGCO-licensed casinos can legally operate in the province. International casinos like LeoVegas, Sports Interaction, Rolletto, DreamJackpot, and JackpotCity are not licensed by the AGCO, so they're not legal for Ontario players under provincial regulation.
In practice: Most international casinos geo-block Ontario IP addresses and won't accept new registrations from Ontario residents. Some casinos allowed existing Ontario players (who registered before April 2022) to continue playing for a transition period, but this was phased out.
Legal risk: Ontario's law targets operators, not players. There's no criminal penalty for individual players using offshore casinos. However, if you play at a non-AGCO casino and encounter issues (delayed withdrawal, voided wins, account closure), you have no legal recourse. The AGCO can't help you, and the casino isn't subject to Ontario consumer protection laws.
Our recommendation: If you're in Ontario, stick with AGCO-licensed casinos like BetMGM Ontario. You'll have regulatory protection, guaranteed payouts, and legal recourse if something goes wrong. The trade-off (slightly stricter bonus terms at some AGCO casinos) is worth the peace of mind.
18 or 19, depending on your province. Here's the breakdown:
Online casinos verify your age during account registration and may request ID verification (driver's license, passport, or utility bill) before approving your first withdrawal. This is standard practice across all licensed casinos and is required by regulators to prevent underage gambling.
Important: Using a fake ID or lying about your age will result in account closure and forfeiture of any winnings. Don't risk it – wait until you're of legal age in your province.
